Killing time while I water horses

As usual, I need something to entertain me while the horse troughs fill up. It takes about an hour. Here are a few of the products of my boredom.

Mike's grandpa's 1949 Ford
The Equine Miss Kate.

The Canine Miss Kate.

They call them Long Ears for a reason!

Mike's antique disc.

I told you they like to get up close and personal!

Telling secrets?
They even get close to each other.

Beer for my horses?

Nick got to take his horse, Jody, for a solo ground drive. They'll be ready to pull a cart soon.

My Babies

A few close ups of our yearling colts...from one end to the other. I never seem to get tired of shooting pictures of these guys. It gets harder and harder though, because when they see me they want to get close. Really close. That's why most of my pics of them are up close and personal.

Can you believe these eyelashes? Isn't this just the sweetest face???

Miniature Gazing Ball

I think these are some of the coolest shots I've taken in a while. Yesterday we took the horses to the Trails to Rails Horse Parade at Katy Days. I was playing around while we were waiting in the parade lineup and took these. They show the reflection of the horses and surrey in the little balls on top of the harness. (I'm sure they have an official name, but I can't identify all the parts yet.) I love the reflection of the sky. It's like a little world in there.

Owens Family

I'm not quite finished yet, but here's a sneak peek from our session on Sunday. I had lots of fun with the Owens family. They were great to work with. And we managed to get at least one smile out of Chris!

Backyard Birds

As I was drinking my coffee yesterday morning, and enjoying the view out my kitchen windows, I discovered these early morning visitors. Since I can't pass up a photo opportunity, I grabbed my camera and went out in my jammies to capture a few shots. Just one of the many advantages of living in the boonies!

They weren't shy at all. I was about 15 feet away from them. Big Daddy here just kept honking a little warning, but they stuck around and posed for a few.

Gus was enjoying the view too.

As I was about to go in the house I noticed this little guy who stopped by for some breakfast.

Gus & Faith's Excellent Adventure

We had several inches of rain today, so our pond was clear up in the back yard. The dogs thought it was their own personal water park. They ran and jumped and chased and played their version of tag. And kept me entertained for quite a while.

Peek a boo.....

Delaney's Ballgame

I went to Delaney's softball game tonight. It was so much fun to watch the little ones play. I haven't been to a little kid's game since Jake was a little kid. She did a good job, and her team won! Brodie was there too. He had fun playing catch.

I think the camera might have been a bit of a distraction. She kept looking at me and smiling.

Swing!

Sometimes it gets a little boring out there in the field.

Here's our girl in action! She caught it!

These aren't her socks, but I sure thought they were cute.

Barn

I've been playing around some more with Topaz Adjust, which is a Photoshop filter that does some really cool things to photos. Here are a couple of examples with the original shown, then the T.A. version. It's fun!

Clematis

I just love it when flowers bloom and catch me by surprise. This is one of the perks of all the rain we've had I guess. It is blooming like crazy, and I haven't done a thing to help it. Those are the best kind of flowers to have!

Mikey

I wanted to take some pictures of my brother-in-law (who I really consider my big brother) for my sister's birthday. And I thought I would really have to do some fancy talking to convince him, but it was much easier than I expected. Not only did he agree to do it, but he was really cooperative the whole time - although I did really try to hurry and not drag it out too long. I didn't want to press my luck. The first two that you see here were part of a storyboard that I made for her. I was really happy with the way they turned out. I didn't want him to dress up or anything, not that he would have anyway. I wanted to capture him the way he looks every day - the real deal. Cause that's our Mikey.

The last two were his idea. He wanted a picture of him with the pictures that his girls have made for him for Christmas, and one with his truck.
