Induction Ceremony

Today at the rodeo at Ft. Scott they held a small induction ceremony for the latest group of new recruits. The official swearing in took place a few weeks ago in KC, but this was a very nice way to honor these young people who have sworn to protect our country. Needless to say, it was kind of emotional for a mom. Especially when I looked over and saw him saluting to the national anthem. Wow. That was a powerful moment for me. At the end of the ceremony a moment of silence was shared for the victims of the shootings at Ft. Hood and their families, followed by "Amazing Grace" playing on bagpipes. Something about that always gets to me, just like hearing "Taps."

I am so proud of you Jake!

  1. A very moving day for your whole family! It must have been quite emotional. As a mom of a military guy (Navy), thank him for me for his commitment and service.
